Join the “pro-touch” revolution – 2020!
This Blog was first published 2 years ago in November 2018… yet I feel it’s more relevant today in the times we now find ourselves in, so I’ve revisited it. I hope you find some comfort and inspiration in the words to follow. It’s time for change…
Are you one of the millions around the globe wishing for things to be different, somehow better? Are you waiting for change and even desperately wanting change?
Me too. Me, you and a growing wave of heart-led, caring people that want to leave our sacred Mother Earth and her inhabitants in a better place to how we found Her.
If you’re here reading this, you’re likely to be a business owner or work in the wellness industry – building your career via serving others – taking their pain away, whether physical or mental or just helping someone to feel better about themselves in some way. That in itself is a wonderful, wonderful thing – to help to heal a fellow traveller is a true gift and so very needed in what outwardly can seem such a broken world, especially in these unprecedented times.
But how can you change the world?
How can one ‘solo-preneur’ therapist see/treat more clients than a day or week will allow when so many new restrictions apply? Many of us face new uncertainty or have not returned to work yet. The constant stream of ads on social media still promise to show you how you can earn more, get on-line, smash into a 6 figure salary despite the Pandemic – and that ultimately your success and happiness are still based on your income or the car on your drive etc.
That never did wash for a therapist. I can bet my bottom dollar that you didn’t join this wonderful industry for the promise of a millionaire lifestyle, did you? Me neither. Fulfillment means different things to different people.
Back to changing the world…
So whether we call ourselves therapists, practitioners, healers or light-workers matters not – we’re likely to be monetary minnows even in the current global financial disaster. The dreaded same hamster wheel called “the economy” is what our elite are so desperate for us all to return to as was.
So I’ll put it to you slightly differently – how can one solo therapist make a global impact? And my answer? By joining together collectively as part of something much bigger and more influential than one person alone can accomplish or dream of. I’m not talking about your ‘standard’ revolution here – no group protests or taking to the streets, no petitions, no strikes or letters to parliament. No… it’s far more subtle yet far more powerful than that.
Let’s just for a moment take inspiration from the words of Martin Luther King Jr – “In fact, violence merely increases hate. Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
Beautiful, isn’t it? And that’s one thing for sure our industry isn’t short of – LOVE. It’s the essence of who we are and why we have been called (directly or indirectly) to serve others. It comes naturally for us to be heart-led. That very fact, collectively, is our strength – our voice – our catalyst for change – and where we are indeed uniquely positioned globally.
Think about it for a moment. Apart from the medical profession, we are pretty much the only individuals trained, qualified and permitted to physically touch others and/or connect with them on a deeper level. This type of touch/connection is so much more profoundly healing when combined with your innate love, compassion and kindness. Imagine if you could bring that life-changing story into your very therapy practice – incorporated into the heart of your business model and marketing strategy?
Well you can…
Heart-led business practice will be the new ‘business as usual’ – and our industry can certainly lead the way. It comes so naturally to us and so many of us are already doing it!
We can be committed to a global movement and shift the way we operate our businesses to be a force for good in the world – and enjoy increased success, fulfillment and profitability at the same time.
Collectively, this does change the world. Let me tell you how…
If one therapist can positively impact the lives of just 50 individuals over, say, a 5 year period (10 a year) – then a group of just 100 together can help 5,000. See the difference? If this group grows to become the model for only half of the estimated 70,000 UK therapy professionals (from hands-on, hair and beauty, mental health to spiritual workers) – that suddenly becomes a staggering 1,750,000 (yes – one million, seven hundred and fifty thousand) people touched by your skills AND kindness.
If this goes global across all therapists? Then that changes the world.
We have relaunched National Massage Day – every 1st October – and also Pro-Touch Awareness Month, running throughout October each year. There are already over 2500 therapists in the facebook group – and the dream is to celebrate by ‘paying it forward’ – from giving free treatments to those in society that need it the most, to fund-raisers, % of takings to charity… the list goes on. We have already raised £100’s and given 100’s of volunteer hours – despite the Pandemic taking over this year.
This year, we have created a free e-book to try and help inspire some true heart-led marketing ideas, rather than us only offering financial discounts. The difference – and impact – is huge.
Want to be part of the change? Then join us and become part of the heart-led business revolution – let’s change our new reality for the better!
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
